The 2012 Annual Meeting of the International Network of WHO-FIC Collaborating Centres (WHO-FIC 2012) will be held in Brasilia, Brazil, from 13 to 19 October 2012.
The meeting will be co-hosted by the Brazilian Ministry of Health, the Brazilian WHO Collaborating Centre for the Family of International Classifications and the Pan American Health Organization PAHO/WHO.
The primary mandate of the Collaborating Centres for the WHO Family of International Classifications (WHO-FIC) is to support and promote the development and use of WHO classifications such as ICD (the International Classification of Diseases) and ICF (the International Classification of Functioning and Disability) in support of health and health services.
The theme for WHO-FIC 2012 is ‘Improving Quality and Implementation’. This topic highlights the importance of health information quality for effective health services, decision makers, and the ongoing international drive to improve the registration of vital events, morbidity and disability information. The meeting also addresses the relevance of discussing and sharing the best practices of FIC implementation in national health information systems.
The Annual Meeting of the International Network of WHO-FIC Collaborating Centres provides the framework for intensive face-to-face meetings of each of the WHO-FIC reference groups and committees; a conference component, which provides the opportunity to share experiences related to the conference theme; and for the WHO-FIC Council to meet to review progress in relation to the strategic work plan of the WHO-FIC network and plan for the future.
Participation is by invitation only.
